Black Magic Vegie Soil

Composition

• Black Magic Vegie Soil is a complete garden soil for your vegetables containing composted organics, mineral sand and ash. Roughly a third of our Black Magic Vegie Soil consists of small bits of organic matter, weathered rock that has gradually been broken down by the forces of wind, rain, freezing and thawing. 

  Organic matter is the partially decomposed remains of soil organisms and plant life including lichens and mosses, grasses and leaves, trees, and all other kinds of vegetative matter.

  Organic matter is absolutely essential. It binds together soil particles into porous crumbs or granules which allow air and water to move through the soil. Organic matter also retains moisture (humus holds up to 90 percent of its weight in water), and is able to absorb and store nutrients. Most importantly, organic matter is food for micro-organisms. The hidden "magic" in a healthy soil is the organisms—small animals, worms, insects and microbes—that flourish when the other soil elements are in balance.

Handy Hints

• As all plants have different requirements, consult your nursery to determine if this soil is suitable for your plants.
• As with all gardens build to minimum depth of 300mm
• Water before and after planting
• Lightly fertilize with a complete fertilizer after planting. This will help the microbial activity in this organic soil
• Planting vegetables? They are ferocious nitrogen eaters so fertilize weekly with a soluable fertilizer

OUR TOPDRESSING

Our Topdressing isn't topsoil, it's a recipe containing specially formulated high nutrient mineral river sand. The washed mineral sand adds nitrogen and calcium stimulating root growth and lush green foliage. The sand allows you to level your lawn while providing drainage. For an extra boost, add your own fertilizer before dressing.

In 14 days with daily watering your lawn will be lush green and your neighbours will be green with envy.

SPREADING

APPLICATION IS EASY simply rake it through your lawn until the tips or your grass show through. 1m3 treats about 80-100m2 (10m x 10m).
